Preliminary Guidelines for Publishing Classifieds on the Underwood PTO Website ~ 2011-12 School Year

We welcome items from and for all current and former Underwood parents, students, teachers and administrators (aka "the Underwood Community") for goods, services, events and other items of potential interest to the Underwood Community.  We also welcome ads from those outside our community, including registered non-profits and various businesses. We reserve the exclusive right of last refusal for items deemed unacceptable, a judgment made by the newsletter editor and committee. The editor and committee reserve the right to classify items placed and to edit for space. Our classified’s policy complies with Newton's non-discrimination policies. Publication of an item as part of the classifieds does not reflect an endorsement for what is offered. These items are not vetted and it is the reader‟s responsibility to check references and verify legitimacy. In other words: "Buyer Beware."
 
To those "outside" the Underwood Community: The fee (toward the Underwood PTO) to publish an ad as part of the Underwood PTO Website Classifieds is $10 per week, $20 per month, $100 for six months. After six months, the suggested donation would be $10 a month, with a maximum donation of $130 for the school year. This does not apply to "The Underwood Community", current and former Underwood families, faculty and staff, unless they are advertising on behalf of a "for-profit".  The suggested donation also does not apply to registered non-profits.
 
The ads published generally include:
 

• those generating one-time income to individuals, such as yard sales, pianos for sale, used cars for sale, and "want" ads look-ing for cars, apartments, etc.
• those for individuals offering on-going goods and services such as tutors, artists selling jewelry, music and yoga instruction.
• those for companies generating on-going income by offering goods and services such as music schools, tutoring companies, pre-school programs.

 
Donations can be made online through communityroom.net. All checks should be made payable to "Underwood PTO" and should be sent to the school with attention to:
