Child Assault Prevention (CAP)

The Child Assault Prevention program (CAP), is a Newton-wide, classroom-based program addressing child assault prevention. CAP seeks to prevent child abuse by training children to recognize and deal with potentially dangerous situations, and by preparing adults in the children’s community – both teachers and parents – to help children in this endeavor. The program has three components: a parent program, an in-service for school personnel, and individual classroom workshops for children in selected grades. Look for more information on this program later in the school year.

If you have any questions about the program, please call Gail Sommer, CAP Director, 617-969-5906 x 143. Newton CAP is a program of Family Access of Newton. Visit their webpage for a detailed description of the program and helpful information sheets and links.
