The ‘New’ Farlow Park project is completed and the results are stunning. This project has exceeded our expectations! The restoration would not have been done without your support of this project. Please join the Friends of Farlow Park, Newton Corner neighbors, and all restoration supporters as we celebrate the revival of Farlow Park with the new bridge and restored pond on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Please plan on spending a beautiful (fingers-crossed) autumn early-afternoon with us while we publicly unveil this gem to all Newton residents and visitors. RSVP on the Friends of Farlow Park Facebook page.

Letter From the Principal: October 2018
Dear Families, It is hard to believe that we turn the calendar to November just next week. As we wrap up the eighth week of school, students have settled into their classrooms and teachers are making the most of each day they have with children. We are excited by the possibilities for academic and social gains for each of our students this year.

Letter from Principal Smith: September 2018
Dear Families, As we wrap up the second week of school, we are definitely off to a great start! Thank you for supporting your children as they transition back to school. We appreciate your efforts to get your children to school on time and ready to learn.
Letter From Principal Smith: Welcome Back, Fall 2018
Dear Underwood Families, I hope you had a wonderful summer. The change of pace that summer brings often allows time for relaxation and fun, and I hope all of our families found time for both. As September approaches, I expect many children are ready to return to school. The beginning of a new school year is always filled with energy, excitement, and optimism. This year is no exception, and we look forward to welcoming students back in the coming weeks.
Welcome Back Picnic – September 19th
Please join us for the annual Welcome Back Picnic at the Underwood playground on Thursday, September 19th from 5:30–7:00pm. Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner, or buy pizza at the picnic (small bills are appreciated).
Community Garden
Help keep our community garden beautiful this summer! Dear Underwood School families: Our community school garden is now in full bloom! Thanks again to all parent helpers who helped us plant! The water will be on all summer (the hose valve is next to the big composter on the building brick wall). If things look dry give them a little drink and feel free to do some weeding too. Many thanks for keeping our garden beautiful. Mr. Gluck 🙂
Letter from Principal Smith: End of 2017/18 and Start of 2018/19
Dear Families, It’s hard to believe that we have just over one week of school left in the 2017-2018 school year. The last day of school is Friday, June 22nd. Dismissal on that day will be at 12:00 PM. As we have in past years, we will hold a clap out for our fifth graders as they exit the building for the last time. Parents are welcome to line up at the main entrance to the building to join the clap out.
Transition to Middle School Panel
Discussion Notes: For those who were unable to attend the gathering in February, here are some takeaways from the parents who shared their experiences with children with special needs transitioning to Middle School.
Grateful to our build day sponsors!
A big Thank You to our 2017 Underwood School Playground Build food and beverage corporate donors!
Big Thank You – From the Underwood PTO!
Thanks to all who helped organize, volunteer at, and participate in the annual spring Carnival, as well as many other activities and fundraisers throughout the year. This year’s Carnival was a huge success. While everyone we met seemed to have spectacular fun, Liz and Steve Tabor had a particular blast getting their basket prize into their Mini Cooper! They were the winners of the 4th/5th Grade Gift Cards for Toys & Treats basket.
