Underwood Math Update

Dear Underwood Families, I am Andy Guttell, the math coach here at Underwood School. This is my seventh year in this role. I am also the math coach at Ward School. Previously I was a classroom teacher in first and second grade at Bowen School for 19 years. I have also taught in international schools in Ecuador and Japan. This is the first full year that our school will be using the Investigations math curriculum in all grades, K-5.  Two years ago, Investigations was successfully launched in Grades 3 and 4. AuthorFest 2019 – presented by Creative Arts & Sciences

AuthorFest 2019 at Underwood was a huge success! Students and Teachers had the best time and everyone learned something about expressing their creativity. Students in grades 1-5 were inspired to create and tell their own stories. Here’s a note from one 2nd grade parent on AuthorFest:   “The author that came in (Susan Tan) to speak with the school had a such a positive impact on Penny.  After the presentation Penny was even inspired to write her own book! Just wanted to let you know your efforts are making an impact and are appreciated.”   *CAS AuthorFest was made possible by a grant from the Newton Schools Foundation, a contribution from The Village Bank in Auburndale, and your generous contributions to our PTO. Thank you! Learn More About Creative Arts & Sciences (CAS)

Big Thank You – From the Underwood PTO!

Thanks to all who helped organize, volunteer at, and participate in the annual spring Carnival, as well as many other activities and fundraisers throughout the year. This year’s Carnival was a huge success. While everyone we met seemed to have spectacular fun, Liz and Steve Tabor had a particular blast getting their basket prize into their Mini Cooper! They were the winners of the 4th/5th Grade Gift Cards for Toys & Treats basket.
