Dear Underwood Families,
We felt so lucky to be able to hold our Back-to-School Picnic this year after skipping this event last fall. Turnout was incredible and seeing so many families enjoying the DJ, dinner, and each other’s company on the playground was a heart-warming reminder of how much has changed in a year. We are excited for the year ahead at Underwood, and are so appreciative of all Underwood families for engaging with our school and PTO and making our community events a success.
Our Membership Dues Drive is off to a fantastic start and we are already over 25% of the way towards our goal of participation by 50 families. Thank you to everyone who has already made a contribution and let’s keep the momentum going!
Thank you to everyone who hosted and attended the Back-to-School Grown-Up Cocktail Parties over the last month! It has been really nice to greet some new friendly faces around school after making these connections and we hope to continue holding these gatherings early in the school year in the future.
Food Truck Friday – 10/15
The Chubby Chickpea and the Chill Wagon are coming to Underwood from 5-7pm on Friday, 10/15! Treat yourself to dinner and an ice cream at the end of a long week. Bring your lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and bug spray and enjoy an evening at the park with the Underwood Community! A portion of proceeds benefits the Underwood PTO.
3rd Annual Underwood Fun Run – Friday 10/29
The Underwood Fun Run is back in person and happening during the school day on Friday, October 29th! We are excited to bring this event back to its original format, as it will allow all Underwood students to participate in this mad dash around Farlow Park with their classmates. Last year’s Virtual Fun Run was the PTO’s largest fundraiser in the 2020-21 school year and we think this year will be even better – stay tuned for more information on how your runner can support the Underwood PTO by having family and friends sponsor their run! The Underwood Fun Run is most importantly a fun community event that keeps our students active, and all Underwood students are participants in the Fun Run and will receive an official 2021 Fun Run t-shirt regardless of whether they choose to fundraise.
Get Involved! Calling all Volunteers!
As an Underwood parent/caregiver, you are automatically a member of the PTO! Parent volunteers keep our PTO active and allow us to plan events and raise money to support our school. There are many opportunities to volunteer at Underwood this year to fit all levels of availability. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with our upcoming Camp Fair (11/13 day-of volunteers), Online Auction, and Spring Carnival. Auction Committee members will reach out to approximately 15 local businesses to gather items for our March online auction, and Spring Carnival Committee members will help plan our beloved Underwood Spring Carnival, returning in June!
